SONA
Gold in India is never only a colour. It is what a family saves in, what a mother passes down, what is put on a bride before anything else. Gold is how we mark that something matters.
Sona began with a question about that colour: how many golds are there, really? Molten gold is not the same as antique gold, which is not the same as the pale gold of morning light on tissue silk. Zari catches the light differently from a crushed weave. A Kanchipuram gold has weight to it. A Habutai gold is almost liquid.
This collection works through those shades one at a time. Nothing in it is embroidered gold laid on top of a fabric. The gold is in the weave itself, carried in the zari as the cloth was made.
